Early Years Foundation Stage

 Intent Statement

At Button Lane, the Early years curriculum is planned in a cross curricular way to enable all areas of our children’s development, as well as to promote sustained thinking and active learning.

We offer a rich and varied play curriculum with first hand experiences in a safe and inviting environment.

Our curriculum is designed to recognise children’s prior learning both from previous settings and their experiences at home.  We work in partnership with parents, carers and other settings to provide the best possible start at Button Lane ensuring each individual child reaches their full potential from their various starting points.  We aim for a seamless transition from our two year provision to the end of Year 6, building on children’s skills to ensure they become resilient, empathetic, respectful, compassionate and successful members of society.

In the Foundation Stage, we cover seven areas of development and learning. Please click here to find out more about them.

Little Wandle Phonics and how you can help at home!

These three videos show you how to pronounce the sounds. Notice how the children don’t add an ‘uh’ sound at the end, so they say: ‘t’ not ‘tuh’. Use the downloadable information to help your child remember how to write their letters and say their sounds.
